Who is LACO?

LACO is a non-profit organization, founded in 1985 from the efforts of several area churches. It is sponsored by churches of various denominations located within the Lisbon, Durham, and Bowdoin communities.

LACO is administered by an all-volunteer Board of Directors that provides leadership and decision-making for the organization. Members of the Board include clergy, representatives of participating churches, and community members.

Currently, churches actively involved in the outreach of LACO include the West Bowdoin Baptist Church, Lisbon Falls Baptist Church, Shiloh Chapel of Durham, First Congregational Church of Durham, Durham Monthly Meeting of Friends, Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Lisbon,  St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church of Lisbon, Lisbon United Methodist Church, and the Streams of Life Anglican Church of Lisbon.

LACO's Statement of Purpose

The mission of the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach (LACO) Food Pantry is to assist and provide supplemental food to the residents of Lisbon, Durham, and Bowdoin who have been impacted by difficult financial conditions.

We gather, store, and distribute goods to those who find themselves in time of special need and crisis. Our mission is based on giving compassionate care to everyone equally and without charge.

Our efforts involve support from area churches, businesses, and individuals of the communities within our service area. LACO Pantry seeks to cooperate with those who share our mission. LACO Pantry has a 501c3 status.
